  1. Delhi’s air quality on Saturday improved marginally but remained in the severe zone for the second consecutive day as the smoke from cracker emissions remained suspended in the air while the stubble fire count in Punjab and Haryana peaked to over 6,500 — the highest this season — resulting in a continuous cloud of thick haze in the Capital, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Punjab Advocate General APS Deol on Saturday accused Congress leader Navjot Sidhu of “spreading misinformation to gain political advantage ”, a day after the latter set Deol’s resignation as the condition for resuming charge as party’s state unit chief. The attack comes a day after Sidhu officially withdrew his resignation as chief of the Congress’s Punjab unit, but said he will return to office “when a new Advocate General is appointed”. HT
  3. Three components of inflation — food, fuel and core inflation i.e. price in all items minus food and fuel — have moved divergently. Food inflation fell significantly from above 5% at the start of the current financial year to 0.7% in September. During the same period, fuel inflation rose from 8% to 13.6%. Three days after booking four Supreme Court lawyers under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other IPC provisions, the Tripura Police Saturday booked 102 social media accounts under similar charges. It also sent notices to Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, asking the social media platforms to block these accounts as they were allegedly found to be spreading “objectionable news items/statements” regarding recent clashes and alleged attacks on mosques in Tripura.   3. हरियाणा सरकार ने रोजगार अधिनियम, 2020 लागू करने के लिए अधिसूचना जारी कर दी है। अब प्रदेश में 15 जनवरी, 2022 से निजी क्षेत्र की नौकरियों में भी आरक्षण नियम प्रभावी माने जाएंगे। रोजगार अधिनियम लागू होने के बाद निजी सेक्टर की कंपनियों के लिए 30 हजार रुपये महीना तक की नौकरियों में हरियाणा के मूल निवासी युवाओं को 75 फीसदी आरक्षण देना अनिवार्य हो जाएगा मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल ने प्रदेश को 2024 तक ‘बेरोजगार मुक्त-रोजगार युक्त’ बनाने का टारगेट हासिल करने के लिए इस अधिनियम को बेहद अहम बताया है। Bhaskar
