Unlike in the real estate business—where everything is location, location, location—neither our location in space nor our orientation with respect to the Earth, Sun, or the fixed stars makes any difference for the laws of nature we deduce. If not for this symmetry of the laws of nature under translations and rotations, scientific experiments would have to be repeated in every new laboratory across the globe, and any hope of ever understanding the remote parts of the universe would be forever lost. This is a powerful concept.”
